“Aphrodite”

Aphrodite Aphrodite,
oh goddess of love
bless me with the power
to attract charming lovers.

Aphrodite Aphrodite,
oh goddess of beauty
bless me with the spell
and declare I’m spiritual.

Aphrodite Aphrodite,
oh goddess of lust
teach me to entice
every lover that is suffice.

Aphrodite Aphrodite,
oh mighty goddess of Venus
I plea you to
bring me into life,

Let me venture
into the world
of mortals
and bless them
with thy powers of divine.

~an impromptu poem for #NaPoWriMo day 5

Prompt Day 5: Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem about a mythical person or creature doing something unusual – or at least something that seems unusual in relation to that person/creature. For example, what does Hercules do when he loses a sock in the dryer? If a mermaid wants to pick up rock-climbing as a hobby, how does she do that? What happens when a mountain troll makes pancakes? https://www.napowrimo.net/day-five-9/

“Aphrodite”, my poem speaks about the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of sexual love and beauty and her attributes to bless me with her powers. Well it went off the path but yeah I tried. It went exactly what it exhibits rather than the quirky job that should have spiced up anyway, hope you like it!

“Poetry and Her”

Poetry in her
inspirits her soul
her indelible blemishes
all over her body
tantalizes every poet
to create poetry
her intuitive mind
entangles every poet
luring in her mystery tale
soliciting cryptic desires
manifesting out from her
as she’s the embodiment
of beauty and divinity
love and sovereignty
‘poetry’ and ‘her’
creates sophisticated art
that is admired by every individual
and so do I worship her, the divine

Prompt Day 4: Here’s our optional prompt! Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem . . . in the form of a poetry prompt. If that sounds silly, well, maybe it is! But it’s not without precedent. The poet Mathias Svalina has been writing surrealist prompt-poems for quite a while, posting them to Instagram. You can find examples here, and here, and here. https://www.napowrimo.net/day-four-10/

Here’s my take on poetry, igniting the very spiritual spirit of a poet by kicking off the ’22 season with this one. Have a great day!
